Resurgence Led By Newcomers

The Freedom enjoyed a winning series, taking 2 out of 3 from the Oakland County Cruisers this week, led by three new signings. SS Stephen Shults, 1B A.C. Grable and OF Michael Campbell helped shake up a struggling line-up for skipper Toby Rumfield.

Shults, a Lawrenceburg, TN native, has collected 3 HR in his first three games in a Freedom uniform, as well as 6 RBI in his first 11 AB's.

Grable replaced struggling 1B Daryl Jones. Through his first 3 games with the club, Grable is hitting .333 with 2 RBI.

Michael Campbell has taken over the LF position as well as the lead-off spot in the line-up for the time being. He's been solid so far, hitting .333 with a .429 OBP.

The new additions couldn't have come at a better time for a Freedom team that was struggling to put runs on the board. The starting rotation is also feeling the effects of the added run support. Over the 3 game series against the Cruisers, the Freedom outscored the opponent 20-11, with strong outings from starters Everett Saul, Austin Chambliss, and Andy Clark. Possibly the most meaningful part of the Freedom's turnaround can be attributed to the bullpen, who over the series, pitched 8 1/3 innings giving up no earned runs.
